Millbrook Parks and Recreation Department announced the Sign-up dates for Spring Baseball and Softball as follows: The Millbrook Community Players, Inc. will present “Fiddler on the Roof” in January 2012. Show Dates are January 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 & 28, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. and January 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, "Fiddler On The Roof" has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. It's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness. You can enjoy hiking five miles of scenic ANC trails while learning about the fascinating natural history of central Alabama. From distinguishing between a white oak and a red oak to observing the natural processes of a seasonal pond, you get more than just a walk in the woods when you pause to study the interpretive signs along the trails. From ponds and creeks to forests and fields, you can always find some kind of new life waiting around the next trail bend. You can even add to the outdoor experience with a tasty picnic under or around the ANC pavilion. The Millbrook Mardi Gras Festival is Saturday, February 11th at the Village Green with entertainment and vendors, followed by a parade at noon. This event is sponsored by The Millbrook Revelers, a group of citizens who just like to bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to Millbrook. Don’t worry, this isn’t New Orleans and the Revelers assure you the festival and parade are totally family-oriented, including activities for the kids. So bring the family and be prepared to catch beads, moon pies, and other throws. If you or your business (it is a great way to advertise) would like to put an entry in the parade, it is not too late. It does not cost anything to enter a unit. You can go to their web site www.millbrookrevelers.com and download an entry form and order beads to throw. If you need more information, you can call Art or Fran Elsner at 285-6847.
